Project & Communications Manager  | San Francisco

40h/full time, start immediately

 

Open Austria is a joint initiative by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs. Our mission is to connect Austria and Silicon Valley in business, science, technology and the arts. Open Austria is the official tech & innovation hub in Silicon Valley.

We are currently looking for a Project & Communications Manager for our San Francisco office on a full-time basis (40h/week) to start immediately. You will be part of the Open Austria team in San Francisco.

We seek candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills in English and German, and a proactive self-starter attitude. If you are a gifted networker with a passion for building partnerships, carrying out high-level events, managing multi-stakeholder projects, and working with delegations and entrepreneurs, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, manage, and carry out Open Austria events (large and small) as well as complex multi-stakeholder projects
  • Manage Open Austria´s social media platforms and monthly newsletter
  • Work on constant updates of Open Austria’s communication strategy
  • Planning, organization, and execution of high-level delegation visits from Austrian officials and business leaders to Silicon Valley; handle operations & logistics of hotels, transport, company visits and meetings, and public events
  • Budget planning, billing, and invoicing
  • Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with other international tech hubs and aligned organizations to grow local networks and connections
  • Maintain and update Open Austria’s database
  • Attend events and meetups and establish relationships with potential partners

 

Your Profile

  • A fun personality and professional demeanor with a positive and can-do attitude, and a great team player
  • Ability to juggle many projects and work cross-functionally
  • Good understanding of the European/Austrian as well as US business cultures
  • Outgoing personality with a strong network in the SF Bay Area; especially in the startup and tech scene
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both German and English
  • Prior experience in event management and social media management
  • Knowledge in tech policy & diplomacy is a plus
  • Passion for art and culture is a plus
  • Interest in working with and connecting organizations, entrepreneurs, businesses, and experts from different industries and verticals
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Google Suite, Slack, Trello, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and other office applications
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail
  • Interest in organizing and managing events
